The newly constructed Levine Building enhances Trinity College’s already exceptional teaching, accommodation, and social facilities.
The Levine Building consists of a cluster of four structures, all elegantly clad in Hartham Park Bath Stone. Trinity College, one of 39 colleges that form the esteemed Collegiate University of Oxford, was established in 1555. The building is named in honour of Sadie and Gerry Levine, the parents of Peter Levine, a Trinity alumnus from the 1970s whose generosity helped launch this project.
The building features:
– 46 en-suite study bedrooms
– An auditorium for lectures and performances
– Five dedicated teaching rooms
– A large, flexible function room
– An informal study/community area with a café
– A library reception, a librarian’s office, and wheelchair access to two floors of the library
– An additional formal study area
– A central administrative hub
– Music practice rooms
– Two student kitchens and a laundry facility
– Landscaping of the Library Quad
We had the privilege of collaborating with our friends at Gilbert-Ash, who entrusted us with the design, supply, and installation of the entire stonemasonry package. This includes moulded strings, cornices, plinths, and natural stone ashlar cladding, all crafted from the stunning Hartham Park Bath Stone. The Levine Building was officially opened by HRH The Prince of Wales on May 12, 2022. During the ceremony, he stated, “Trinity College presents the University at a human scale. And the work of your academics – as we’ve seen – is a force for good. I congratulate you all on the vital work you do and the generosity of spirit that underpins it. That same generosity of spirit clearly infused the development of this wonderful building. It’s a great responsibility to create new state-of-the-art facilities within an inspiring and historic setting – one that includes buildings by such giants as Christopher Wren. I offer my warmest congratulations to all those who contributed their talents and expertise to create a building worthy of this historic site.” Read more.
