BBC Broadcasting House in Belfast opened in 1936 as the headquarters of BBC Northern Ireland, marking a major step in bringing public service radio broadcasting to the region. Located in the city centre, it became the hub for news, drama, and cultural programming, playing a key role during wartime and throughout the Troubles, before continuing today as a central base for BBC radio and television production in Northern Ireland.
In this project, we were assigned the task of restoring the front canopy at the BBC Broadcasting House in Belfast.
The scope of work included erecting a 4-meter-high hoarding around the worksite, dismantling the stone canopy, cleaning and treating the steelwork at the front of the building, repairing and cleaning the stone canopy, and finally rebuilding the stone canopy.
